ANSWER 1: I CAN'T GET THE GAME TO WORK, WHAT SHOULD I TRY?

If you have an old version of Castrol Honda on your PC first remove it using ADD/REMOVE PROGRAMS (START MENU/CONTROL PANEL) and then delete the directory it was installed to (e.g. PROGRAM FILES/CHS2000). It is important you do a clean install as old files may make the demo malfunction.

Also make sure you are using the latest drivers for your mouse. You will need Win95 drivers - if you are using old Win 3.x drivers you may have a problem.

ANSWER 2: THE FRONT END OF THE GAME WORKS, BUT WHEN I GO TO RACE I GET A BLACK SCREEN, WITH JUST THE PANEL DISPLAYED?

Make sure you have the latest drivers for your video card and the latest version of DirectX.

These are supplied on the full version of the game or you can get them from your card manufacturers website.

Please note that even if other games work fine or you have only recently acquired the card your drivers may still be out of date.

If you have tried the drivers on the CD and the game still won't work, try all the different settings on the DISPLAY menu for SCREEN RESOLUTION (e.g. try 320x200) and COLOURS (e.g. try HiColour). It is possible that your video card doesn't support all of the display modes listed.

If you are using a joystick, make sure it is connected and calibrated in the control panel. Try using the key control instead (by selecting keys in the CONTROL menu).

ANSWER 3: THE FRONT END OF THE GAME WORKS BUT I DON'T GET A MOUSE POINTER AND I CAN'T SELECT ANYTHING?

Make sure you are using the latest drivers for your mouse. You will need Win95 drivers - if you are using old Win 3.x drivers you may have a problem. Try looking on the internet for the website of your PC or mouse manufacturer. They may well have later drivers.

ANSWER 4: IS THERE A PATCH FOR CASTROL HONDA SUPERBIKE WORLD CHAMPIONS?

The patch fixes a variety of problems with some graphics cards (including ATI, Intel 7110). If you are sure you have the latest drivers for your card then please try the patch.

This can be downloaded from our patches section

Patch Install Instructions:-
1. Un-install old version of game.
2. Delete directory game was installed to (eg. C:program files\Chs2000).
3. Re-install game from CD. Do not run it at this stage.
4. Double click on the patch program (chs2000.exe) this will self-extract.
5. Make sure you are self-extracting the patch to the correct install directory (eg. C:program files\Chs2000).
6. Run game as normal.

If you are using a non-English version of the game you will need to do the following to make the patch work (Answer 4a):-

ANSWER 4a: I CAN'T GET THE PATCH TO WORK IN A FOREIGN LANGUAGE?

You need to edit the file bikegame.cfg (using Notepad). The last line reads:-
language = 0

Change this line to use the correct number from the list below:
ENGLISH 0
FRENCH 1
GERMAN 2
ITALIAN 3

Save the file out and run the game again - it should now work.

ANSWER 5: MY MONITOR GOES CRAZY WHEN I TRY DIFFERENT SCREEN RESOLUTIONS?

Try lowering the frequency (refresh rate) which your monitor uses for that resolution. Look in your display properties (right mouse click on desktop) for a tab that says 'Monitor Settings' or similar.

ANSWER 6: HOW DO I CHANGE THE DEFAULT 3D GRAPHICS CARD?

If you have more than one 3d accelerator card and would like to change which card the game uses, edit the config.dat file in your install directory (using a text editing program such as notepad). Remove the semi-colon from the line ';ChooseDevice=true'. When you next run the game, you will be given the option to choose which accelerator card is used.

ANSWER 7: WILL THE GAME WORK WITHOUT A 3D CARD?

The game will not run without a 3D card.

ANSWER 8: HOW CAN I MAKE THE GAME RUN FASTER?

To make the game run faster, you will need to go to the DISPLAY menu and turn the resolution down, reduce the level of detail, and reduce the number of bikes rendered.

ANSWER 9: DOES THE GAME SUPPORT GLIDE?

No.

ANSWER 10: CAN I SAVE A CHAMPIONSHIP IN THE MIDDLE OF A GAME AND DO A SINGLE RACE?

The Championship is automatically saved every time you race. If you quit the championship to do a single race you will lose the championship information. The easiest way to handle this is to install two copies of the game and run one for championships and one for other games. To install a second copy of the game double click on your My Computer icon. Click the right mouse button over the CD-ROM icon. Click on OPEN in the menu. Double click on the setup.exe program. The InstallShield will now run.

ANSWER 11: NETWORK PLAY DOESN'T WORK?

Q:
When I choose from the main menu "Network Game"/"Start hosting a network game" it does nothing. Only click, and a sound of clicking and nothing.

A:
You need to have the IPX drivers installed and turned on from your Windows CD. For more information on how to do this please look at the Windows HELP.

ANSWER 12: WHEN TRYING TO INSTALL, ERROR 113 OCCURRED AFTER ONLY 17% OF INSTALLATION?

Probably not enough hard drive space. Make sure there is at least 80Mb free. If this isn't it then the CD is faulty.

ANSWER 13: SOUND IS CRACKLING WHEN I REV THE ENGINE?

I suggest that you play the game in 640 - 480 res maximum as this seems to help.
-or-
Edit config.dat (using Notepad in the install directory) and put 3D sound to 'true'
